Vague

Vague is a visual meditation on the blurred boundary between solitude and presence, shot entirely in New York City using a Mamiya C330 twin-lens film camera. Working with square-format film, I leaned into the softness, grain, and unpredictability of analog photography to evoke moments that feel both fleeting and suspended in time.

Through layered compositions and ambient light, the images explore emotional ambiguity—faces half-obscured, gestures unfinished, expressions unresolved. In a city defined by speed and structure, Vague embraces what cannot be clearly seen or easily explained. It invites the viewer to pause, to sense rather than define.

This series has been recognized internationally, including a 2022 International Color Awards win, and honors from the Px3 Paris Photo Awards (2021), International Photography Award (2020), and International Color Awards (2019). It has been featured in publications such as BestPicture.com, Nordika Magazine, FotoFilmic, Artist Portfolio Magazine, Dodho Magazine, and She.Xitek.com.

Vague is not about clarity—it’s about emotional texture. It’s about the haze that lingers in memory, and the poetry that lies in the in-between.
